FINALLY FINISHED MY PAPER!!!

I finally finished my paper. It wasn’t easy to do 5 1/4 pages. It took me wed, thurs, and all day saturday to finish my paper. I sent in my paper to smartthinking and they gave me some feedback. I also asked for my sister to read it so that she can tell me if it made sense. The main thing that I had a trouble with was getting things to write about. I went to the student success center and asked a tutor for help on my paper to see if he thought it made sense. He basically scrolled down then back up and said it looked right. I asked him if my book citation was right and he said it was. He barely looked at it. Hopefully, I can make an A on this paper so I can get an A in the class. Today in class, all we did was turn in the envelope with our supporting material, draft, and any other notes that we used. We also had to fill out a piece of paper asking about how we finished the paper and the kind of help we got. Wednesday, we will be going over the review for the final.

Still with the Fiction Paper

I have been researching and writing this paper like forever now. It is so frustrating. I have 3 pages and I made my citation page, but I dont know what else to write about. Now, I will be spending my thanksgiving break writing this paper. This paper determines whether I get an A or B in this class. I put my whole effort into the last 2 papers and I didn’t do good on the first one, but on the 2nd one, I did pretty good. Hopefully, I did good on this paper because I am trying really hard. The biggest problem for me is not knowing whether or not the paper is good to her standards. The stuff that I thought was right on the other two papers were wrong , so im really nervous about turning it in. I made sure everything was in present tense. I put the page number and quotation marks for my quotes, but not sure about the in text citations and the citation page. I hope I did those right. I am so nervous about the paper. Maybe she’ll give everyone like a 20 pt curve. I know thats wishful thinking, but everyone says that this is a season for miracles.

Fiction Paper

This paper is more difficult than I thought it would be. I have the summary of the story, The Lottery, but I dont know what to put after that. Im glad this is our last paper, but we wont be able to revise it. I have my outline. The writing is the hard part. I have one source, but it doesn’t seem to make sense, like it doesn’t go along with what im writing about. I’m gonna go ask Mr. Larry (the librarian) for help. I want to switch to a Happy Ending, because I really like that short story. I also like the one about the lady that criticizes people in her head. Today in class, we looked at how to cite a paper. I didn’t know that we needed a page number for the in-text citations. Theres 2 more classes before we have to turn in our papers, so I hope to finish the paper by wednesday so that I can show her before or after class. Then if I still need help, I can go to the student success center. The bad thing about going over there is, there usually isn’t anyone that helps with Comp2

Girl and A Happy Ending

I liked the story, Girl, until the author said this is how to make medicine to kill a baby. Those were not the words, but thats basically it. I didn’t like it at all. It seemed like she was worried about what would happen to her reputation if her daughter did get pregnant or became a “slut.” It was just a story of instructions.

I liked A Happy Ending though. It was really interesting how she wrote it. John and Mary meet. Then, “A” ended up being the happy ending that only happens in fairy tales. I guess it could happen to somebody, but something eventually happens down the line. The couple can make it through that, but its not always perfect. “B” was horrible. The guy basically uses her to the point where she had no self esteem and realized that there was no point in living, so she killed herself. “C” was pretty messed up too. Old guy and young girl that felt bad for him. Old guy finds the young girl with some other YOUNG guy and kills them all. I guess the main point of the whole thing is that everyone dies and you wont always get a happy ending.

An Old man with enormous wings and Revelation

Well, I didn’t have time to read the story because I had ALOT going on this weekend. I did read it in class though. I really didn’t like the “An Old man with enormous wings,” it just seemed like a myth story. For example, they were talking about a girl turning into a spider because she went to a party without her parent’s permission. When she was coming home, she went through the woods and the sky opened up and something hit her (I think) and she turned into a giant spider. I think it was a terantula. This old man with the big wings got hit down by the rain. The people’s whose house he was at, let him stay in the chicken coop. The chicked would poke him. Everyone kept looking at him and throwing him food like he was some kind of circus person. Well, in the end the old man, the angel, flys away. Its kinda sad that he got ridiculed like that. At least in the end, he was able to escape. The family that kept him made a fortune from him.

Revelation was long, but funny. She kept criticizing people in her head, calling them ugly and all kinds of stuff.

Class on Monday October 26th and drama play

I went to see a drama for the drama paper’s extra credit. Writing about it was really easy. I wish all of these paper were that easy. It felt like I had more to write with the extra credit than with the actual drama paper. The drama paper seemed more difficult than the poetry paper. I went to the Student Success Center and that helped out ALOT. Hopefully, fiction is much easier. I really liked the fact that we were reading the story and trying to write it out using one of the methods. I understand the methods, but I don’t get how to put it on paper. It seems easy when you read the story and you pick which one you’ll choose from. Its the writing it down that gets me. At least we’re starting early this time on working on our paper. That helps me out alot when we work on it early. On the last paper, I made an outline so I knew exactly what I wanted for each paragraph. Im going to start working on paper this weekend, so that I can get a headstart. Im not exactly sure which story to pick, but I figured if I do it early, then I can bring it to class and ask her to read it.

Drama test and paper

The test wasn’t so bad. It was open book and open notes, so that was good. I read over the plays this past weekend, so I would know what its about. I knew a majority of the questions, there were some of em’ that I didn’t know. So, I put what I thought it was. I just didn’t realize that the test was so soon. I thought it would be at the end of the month. For the first test, she said it a week in advance, so I knew that it was coming up. For this one, I found out on the wednesday before. I guess its my fault for not looking at the syllabas. The drama paper is kinda confusing because I dont really understand it. I like the plays Othello and A Doll’s House, but I just dont know how to write about it. I can talk about it, say what happened, and what I think about it. Its just the whole part of putting my thoughts on paper and making sure its a good paper. My Comp 1 teacher would give us A’s when we wrote the paper. As long as we wrote it, we got an A. At least theres the smartthinking thing on Blackboard, that helps out ALOT.

A doll’s house

That play was pretty good, but I hated the ending. She just left, that was the ending of the play. It’s like the movies that have a cliff hangers for the ending and doesn’t have a sequal. For ex. August Rush. Good movie, but crappy ending because you want to know what happened afterwards. Anyway, back to the play. The husband should have trusted his wife and not have jumped to conclusions. She was already hurting and he made it worse. She did what she did for him, not because of herself. He had no right to treat her that way. If the play went on, I think he would’ve later realized that he made a HUGE mistake. I can’t believe she left her kids though. Ok, so your husband is a complete JERK, but leaving your kids is just plain wrong. In my opinion, the best friend saved Nora from that guy exposing her (the lawyer/bank manager’s wife). The doctor was just messed up. He came over just to see her. The doctor basically used the husband so he could see Nora everyday. I give this play a 7, because it was good, but needed a better ending. I really wish it had a sequal.

Poetry exam and essay!

The test wasn’t that bad. It was time consuming. I think I should have taken better notes and it would’ve been really easy. When you know that the test is open book, you would normally think, “ya, it’ll be easy. I’ll be out in 30 minutes or less.” I think I took the whole time. The essay was a pain though, because it was so confusing. I got so frustrated on it. I started working on it in the beginning of september and I still wasn’t done when we had to turn it in. I did not like that paper. Yeah, the story was interesting and all, but writing about it and trying to figure out what the author’s hidden meaning was, was a PAIN!!! I went into the writer’s center, the student success center, and I sent my paper into the “Smarthinking” on Blackboard. I could not wait to get that paper over with. Only a few more months and Christmas vacation was here. I think I really had a hard time with this paper, because my last teacher didn’t teach us how to write correctly. She just gave all of us A’s, as long as we did the paper. So, the next paper, Im gonna work harder.

Othello

I liked watching “O” in class today. I never knew that was Othello. I’ve seen the ending before, because I remember the guy getting shot. I think we should do more movies, because its easier to remember when test day comes. I really liked that movie though. I read Othello in the book, but it didnt make sense. I kept getting confused on who the people were and what was going on. I understood the part where Othello killed his girlfriend, he sufficated her, but that was it. The movie made alot of sense. I cant believe that Iago or whatever his name was, used everyone to get what he wanted. Jealousy took over his life. I think if the father paid more attention to him, none of that would have happened. Alot of people are like that. They get jealous, then they do things that they normally wouldn’t do. Its like something that takes over your life especially when you dwell on it for awhile. Everyone gets jealous, but some people take it to the extremes. Iago could’ve just worked harder instead of using people, then those lives would have been saved. He ended up losing in the end anyway.
